seven times is a chapbook containing a letter written to a well-intentioned non-Black friend. It describes a panic attack I had after seeing a police car drive by during class one day. This was in the aftermath of the shooting of Jacob Blake on August 23, 2020. The book contains walnut dye made from the tree in my yard and the handwritten letter is a foldout.
